NAARI...A TRIBUTE TO THE DIVINE HUMANITY OF WOMEN

A two-day long Cultural programme on Hindustani Classical Music named as Naari...a tribute to the divine humanity of women was held at Birendra Mancha, Kolkata to celebrate 150th birth anniversary of Sister Nivedita on 28th and 29th January 2017. The programme was jointly organised by behala SRIJAN and Shri Shri Ramkrishna Vivekananda Bhabachakra. 

On 28th January 2017 SaturdayHer holiness Prabrajika Debaprana Mataji, Secretary of Ramakrishna Sarada Mission Sister Nivedita Girls' School, Kolkata graced the occasion as the President of the musical programme. Respected Shri Debasish Kumar, hon'ble MMIC, Kolkata Municipal Corporation adorned the chair of Chief Guest while the special Guest of honor was eminent consultant Obstetrician and Gynaecologist, respected Dr Rabindranath Mondal. 

behala SRIJAN invited 6 children of under privileged families of the Sunderbansof South 24 Parganas of West Bengal. These children welcomed the reverend Guests with flower bouquets and received their blessings.The hon'ble Guests delivered their valuable speeches. The hon'ble President of the programme in her speech threw a flood of light on the life and works of sister Nivedita in India.Her speech inspired us all.

The programme started by the vocal recital of Kankana Banerjee a famous vocal reciter from Mumbai. After the mesmerizing performance of Smt. Banerjee, the audience was overwhelmed by the performance of the Lady Percussionist group called Naari Shakti led by famous tabla maestro Rimpa Shiva and four other lady percussionists . Her troupe comprised of Atri Mazumder - vocal and Pamela Banerjee on pakhawaj, Nibedita Banerjee on Sitar and Sujata on Flute. This was followed by vocal recital of Pt. Sanjoy Banerjee . Pt Banerjee charmed the audience by his memorable performance.

On Sunday, 29th January 2017 the programme started at 10 am with the duet vocal recital of Pt. Ritesh & Pt. Rajnish Mishra. Audience applauded the artists and demanded for more but due to the shortage of time they had to leave the stage for Pt Ronu Majumder who mesmerized the audience by playing a rare Raga Bhupkali, a fusion raga of Raga Bhupali and Raga Gunkeli. Really it was a masterpiece. Next Kathak dance was performed on the stage by famous Kathak dancer Shri Tapash Debnath. Last but not the least the outstanding performanace by renowned Vocal Artist Vidushi Tripti Mukherjee left the audience spell bound. The audience gave standing ovation with big applause. 

The Programme was compered by Smt Reshmi Chatterjee. Amongst the accompanists were Hindole Majumder, Sumit Singha Roy, Rupak Mitra on Tabla and Anirban Chakraborty on Harmonium and many others.'Naari...' was a grand successfull programme.

On 15th April, 2018 Team Behala SRIJAN organised an Education Camp at Sonagaon, Gadkhali, Sunderbans, South 24 Parganas.

Around 25 local children of underprivileged families of this area were benefited. Awareness programme on utility of basic education and necessity of going to school regularly, was organised. Apart from these children, their parents and some other local people participated in the programme. The children were gifted with education kits. Mr Biswajit Jana, one of the residents of this place helped us to organise the educational awareness program successfully. We are grateful to him. One of the sponsored children of Behala SRIJAN, Monalisa Das and her parents also participated actively in the programme.

Shruti Naad

The Programme of propagation of Indian Traditional Music and promotion of young talented artists "SHRUTI NAAD" held at Swami Punyananda Mukto Mancha, near Hari sabha mandir, Rahara, Khardah, West Bengal on Sunday, 22nd April 2018 at 5 pm. The programme was divided into two sessions. Amongst the participants of the first session were Niladridev Bhattacharya, Adrija Modak, Anitendu Modak, Udit Chakraborty, Dwaipayan Chowdhury, Debasmita Chakraborty (recitation), Mahasweta Mukherjee (Dance) and Sumanata Das (Sufi Song). Around 25 children of underprileged families were gifted waterbottles and colours to boost up their interest in going to school and conitnue their basic education.

The second session of the programme was participated by students of Sur Sangam ( Composed and directed by Pt Alok Lahiri) on Sarod, Violin, Flute and Tabla. Shruti Natak (Audio Drama) by "Mukhor" and Bangla and Puratani songs by Debarati Chakraborty.

The total programme was hosted by Susmita Ghosh.

An Indian traditional musical programme. Participants - Students of Sur Sangam (Composed and directed by Pt Alok lahiri); Vocal renditions of Indian Classical Music by Pt Sarathi Chatterjee and Sitar recital by Chirag Katti.
